North Atlantic Publishing Systems, Inc. (NAPS) www.napsys.com, the creator of CopyFlow Gold, is shutting down operations after 32 years of providing software tools and systems to publishers and translators. 

The NAPS online store is open and will remain open for a few more weeks. If you haven't yet ordered the latest version of CopyFlow Gold for Illustrator CC 2021, now might be a good time to purchase it.

We are actively looking for someone to purchase the CopyFlow Gold source code and take over the support and maintenance of the CopyFlow Gold applications. If you know someone who might be interested, please have them contact us at naps@napsys.com. We will be accepting offers until April 27, 2021.

Trouble shooting CopyFlow Gold

Sometimes when your copy of InDesign and Illustrator is updated in the night, or some other system change has occurred you may find CopyFlow Gold is no longer working properly. The first step is always the same - update your CopyFlow Gold to the latest version!

To do this go to www.napsys.com - Downloads and re-install your version of CFG from the website. Your authorisation keys should not be affected - but you may want to locate the original email we sent at purchase time just in case. Please keep your keeps in a safe place.

At the same time - download a fresh copy of ZXPInstaller - then run it to re-install your CFG application.

If this reinstall fails the next thing to try is to delete the CopyFlow Gold installation folder and then reinstall the new version again. To do this first find your Adobe extensions folder. Googling 'Adobe extensions folder' will help if you don't now the location. Within this folder are a series of subfolders. All the NAPS folders are named in the same way - for example: com.napsys.CFGIllustratorCC2017 contains the 2017 CFG Illustrator application.  Delete the folder and re-install again.

Using CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CC2017 with InDesign CC2018

To use CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CC2017 with InDesign CC2018 first get a fresh download of ZXPinstaller from www.zxpinstaller.com and install.

Then download a new copy of the CFG for CC2017 demo version and install it with your new ZXPinstaller.  It is unlikely, but you may need to re-authorize CFG with the keys we sent you at purchase time. Another reason to keep your authorization keys in a safe place.

Minor updates to CC 2017 extension

We have just updated CopyFlow Gold for Indesign CC 2017 and Illustrator CC 2017 - to fix some minor bugs. Both versions needed adjustments to the scroll bars in the front panel logging window.

You can download the new versions as a demo from www.napsys.com and upgrade your activated version with it - using ZXPInstaller.  Your activation will remain in effect.

Using and Installing CopyFlow Gold for CS6 with InDesign CC 2015

CopyFlow Gold for CS6 supports InDesign CS6 through InDesign CC2014.

The current versions of CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 also works with the current CC 2015 version of InDesign - but we have been warned by Adobe that there are changes coming which will require a major upgrade for CFG. When that happens we we will be charging for this upgrade.

Adobe discontinued Extension Manager for CC 2015 - so you must download ZXP Installer to install Copyflow Gold into InDesign CC2015 - unless you had CopyFlow Gold already installed in a copy of InDesign CC2014 which you upgraded to CC2015 - in which case it may simply apprear.

Otherwise, to install CFG with CC 2015:

Download the latest demo version of CFG for InDesign CS6 from www.napsys.com. - a. zxp file.

Then download (right click link - to Download As... ) the installer for 

Macintosh:  http://www.napsys.com/ware/ZXPInstaller.dmg

or download  (right click link - Download As... ) the installer for 

Windows:   http://www.napsys.com/ware/ZXPInstaller.zip

Open the ZXP zip or dmg & install 'ZXPInstaller'

If you are a customer and have authorization keys - enter them now. If you are using the demo - enjoy the trial.

Installing CopyFlow Gold for InDesign and Illustrator CC and CC 2014

The CopyFlow Gold download is a zipped .zxp file. Once you have unpacked the .zip file you can install the .zxp with Adobe Extension manager - for CC if you are installing CFG into InDesign CC or CC 2014 or Extension Manager CS6 - if you are installing the CFG into InDesign or Illustrator CS6.

Adobe Extension Manager is usually already installed on your machine - but if you can't find it you can install it from the Creative Cloud app or download a free copy of Extension Manager from https://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/ .

Our latest CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 works with InDesign CS6, CC and CC (2014).

CopyFlow Gold for Illustrator CS6 - 6.07

We have upgraded CFG for Illustrator CS6 at noon today so that it now will not export or import  text to or from hidden layers. The new version is 6.07 and available for download from the web site.

If you already have CopyFlow Gold for Illustrator CS6 installed and wish to upgrade to this dot release, you can do so by simply downloading the .zip from http://www.napsys.com/CFGDownloadDemo.html decompressing the zip. Then use Adobe Extension manager to install the .zxp file. It will overwrite your current release. You registration will be preserved, but you may need to reset your preferences. As always, we recommend you time your upgrades to be between jobs.

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 and CS5

We have just updated CFG for InDesign CS6 and CS5 to ensure that each table cell is a unique segment in the output XLIFF . The CS6 version is 1.09   The CS5 version is 5.8

To get this latest version - simply download the latest "demo" from http://www.napsys.com , and use Adobe Extension Manager to install the .zxp or .mxp file. Your previous CFG registration will be preserved.

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 - 1.08

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 - 1.08 adds more features.

We have added IDML as a new export/import format type. This is most useful with the Folder option on - to process entire folders of InDesign documents to and from IDML in a single batch.

CFG also now includes function to 'Check For Missing Glyphs'. When translating to a language which uses a different character set sometimes the font specified for the original language lacks the glyphs (character images) for translated text. This results in 'missing glyphs' as shown in the illustration below. In this case the target language is Japanese, but this situation can occur with European languages as well. CopyFlow Gold's 'Check For Missing Glyph' fly-out menu item scans a document for missing glyphs and reports the page number of the first occurrence.

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 - 1.08 also includes an enhanced feature for clearing typographic attributes. See the updated documentation for more info about this and other Pre- and Post- Translation tasks..

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 - 1.07

We have added a Clear Overrides menu item to this version of CopyFlow Gold.

It has two uses:

i) Users round-tripping text in the RTF format who export nicely styled text (with no typographic overrides) have found some typographic attributes set as overrides once the Adobe RTF filter has finished importing the text.  Clear Overrides provides  a quick way to clean up these formatting errors.

ii) In some scenarios excessive typographic overrides need to be removed before translation to the improve 'segmentation' for machine assisted translation. Clear Overrides simply clears all the typographic overrides on a designated portion of an InDesign document - leaving only the styled formatting in effect. This is a first step in better segmentation for all the CFG formats.  More details...

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 - 1.06

We are continuing to add great new features to CopyFlow Gold for CS6. In this latest release we have added a tool to set the InDesign language settings  for hyphenation and spelling quickly and easily.

The new tool is accessed by a new menu item 'Set Language 'on the fly-off menu of the CopyFlow Gold panel.

This will display the following dialog for setting the language.

CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS6 now includes an option to automatically set the InDesign language setting for spell check and hyphenation when importing translated text in the XLIFF, Translator's XML or Translator's HTML formats.

CS6 Upgrades to All Installers

If you are having trouble installing an extension to Creative Suite 6 - or if your extension 'disappeared' after your CS6 application received a minor update or patch -- please fetch the latest extension download and re-install.

GoMakeStyles cleans up InDesign text

We have now have an new extension for Adobe InDesign CS6. On sale for only $49.95

GoMakeStyles cleans up arbitrary typographic overrides by replacing them with paragraph and character styles. It first determines the optimum paragraph styles, then the simplest character styles to apply. New styles are named so their differences are apparent. Any existing styles are left in effect and applied where possible. The creation of new styles is kept to a minimum, so the program will not make more styles than are needed. Once GoMakeStyles has run all typographic formatting is accomplished via styles.

GoMakeStyles is a useful tool for all InDesign users. It is extremely helpful when cleaning up document text before re-purposing for other eBooks or other media, upgrading or translation.

Troubleshoot InDesign Documents

I came across a great page on the Adobe site the other day about troubleshooting problems with InDesign and wanted to share it here. Saving to IDML and then re-importing the IDML into InDesign has always been a favorite of mine, so I was glad to see it listed. CopyFlow Gold CS5 & CS5.5 update

There is a new version of  CopyFlow Gold for CS5 and CS5.5 available for download : (CS5) 5.6. This version rectifies errors found in round-tripping HTML files to and from the Google Translator Toolkit. The update can be downloaded from NAPS Downloads and installed over the existing version with Adobe Extension Manager CS5 or CS5.5.
