AboutMyDoc - reports on InDesign CS6 text.

AboutMyDoc helps an InDesign operator quickly determine a document's complexity and size.  AboutMyDoc produces a quick report in your web browser about an InDesign  document’s text and totals the word count. It should be very useful for evaluating or estimating jobs in pre-press houses, translation houses and for others who re-purpose InDesign documents for eBooks, the web and other purposes. The application is highly configurable and allows or disallows the inclusion of text in various InDesign elements -- notes, tables, footnotes,etc and can optionally include text on hidden layers, in off page frames or in hidden conditions.

AboutMyDoc’s reports can be produced in a compact or detailed format. Text in stories, tables, footnotes, text variables, in conditions, index topics, and notes can all be reported on. Since the report is in an html file it can easily be restyled by replacing the single css style sheet.

CS6 Upgrades to All Installers

If you are having trouble installing an extension to Creative Suite 6 - or if your extension 'disappeared' after your CS6 application received a minor update or patch -- please fetch the latest extension download and re-install.

GoMakeStyles cleans up InDesign text

GoMakeStyles cleans up arbitrary typographic overrides by replacing them with paragraph and character styles. It first determines the optimum paragraph styles, then the simplest character styles to apply. New styles are named so their differences are apparent. Any existing styles are left in effect and applied where possible. The creation of new styles is kept to a minimum, so the program will not make more styles than are needed. Once GoMakeStyles has run all typographic formatting is accomplished via styles.

GoMakeStyles is a useful tool for all InDesign users. It is extremely helpful when cleaning up document text before re-purposing for other eBooks or other media, upgrading or translation.

Troubleshoot InDesign Documents

I came across a great page on the Adobe site the other day about troubleshooting problems with InDesign and wanted to share it here. Saving to IDML and then re-importing the IDML into InDesign has always been a favorite of mine, so I was glad to see it listed. But they had many more ideas as well.  Here's the article: Troubleshoot Damaged InDesign Documents. Well worth reading.

CopyFlow Gold CS5 & CS5.5 update

There is a new version of  CopyFlow Gold for CS5 and CS5.5 available for download : (CS5) 5.6. This version rectifies errors found in round-tripping HTML files to and from the Google Translator Toolkit. The update can be downloaded from NAPS Downloads and installed over the existing version with Adobe Extension Manager CS5 or CS5.5.

CFG for Adobe InDesign and Illustrator CS6

We have now ported both CopyFlow Gold for InDesign and CopyFlow Gold for Illustrator to the new CS6 design. The CopyFlow Gold for either of these applications tool now looks like any native Adobe panel.
